Simonton Windows Prices
Check out Simonton windows prices on their Reflections, Impressions, Daylight Max, VantagePointe, ProFinish, and StormBreaker Plus and more. In general, Simonton enjoys a good reputation in the window industry. They are a solid mid grade vinyl window manufacturer with good customer support. Their frames tend to be a little wider, which gives them a bulkier look which some homeowners don't like as much as say a Sunrise or Okna. However, the wider frame does provide better insulation, which homeowners like from an energy efficiency perspective. The company uses good extrusions and cleans up their weld lines well.
Their models and marketing can be rather confusing for consumers. For instance, the Reflections, Prism and Generations Window Series are all essentially the same window. They have three levels of each of these series and they have these different labels for the system of distributors they have set up. The Prism includes standard double strength glass and a better glass breakage warranty and therefore is probably a better value.

Simonton Windows Prices | 5050 Series
The Reflections 5050 is the same window as their Prism Bronze and is essentially their entry level vinyl window. The window has a fairly narrow profile, which provides homeowners with more glass or viewing area. In general, this product is given an okay grade for the price. Most contractors would strongly urge consumers to upgrade to a better performer within the Simonton family for long term value.

Simonton Windows Prices | Reflections 5300 Series
These two windows are nearly identical, although the Prism comes standard with double strength glass, while the Reflections usually requires an upgrade from single strength glass. The Prism often comes with a 25 year warranty on glass breakage, while the 5300 only has a 3 year warranty period.

Simonton Windows Prices | Reflections 5500 Series
The Reflections 5500 is the same window as their Prism Platinum and is one of Simonton's top offerings. This frame tends to be on the wider or thicker side, but offers much better performance numbers. They come standard with a 1" super spacer and the Prism line comes with double strength glass. The 5500 with the ETC Super 366 glass package offers the following performance numbers U-factor of 0.30, Air Infiltration of 0.17 and an SHGC of 0.18.

Simonton Windows Prices | Impressions 9800 Series
The Impressions 9800 is arguably the best window offered by Simonton. Many consider it the better looking "twin" to the Prism Platinum. In terms of performance, it is on nearly identical to the 5500, but uses a different dye and therefore looks slightly different. Originally, this window was only sold through a select number of Simonton dealers, but can now be sold be any Simonton distributor. The window runs about $50 more than the 5500 (or Prism Platinum). It used to have a plastic center handle on the sash, but now has two metal lift handles. The Impressions Series comes with a better warranty than the Prism or Reflections lines.

Simonton Windows Prices | Asure Series
The Asure is a new window line from Simonton beginning in the Spring of 2012. The company redesigned their entry level 5050 and 5300; the Assure will replace this model and possibly the 5300. The Assure has a thinner profile that creates more glass and viewing area by nearly an inch on all four sides. No changes were made to the sash but the window frame is better looking (according to the company). The window can be ordered with the popular Super Spacers (Simonton calls theirs the Supercept). The performance numbers have changed very little.

Simonton 6500 Windows
Dear Tom, we just bought a 1920s house with 18 windows, almost all original, and in various stages of non-working order. We have used consumer checkbook to identify top-rated installers, but are having trouble evaluating the windows they recommend.
We also asked home depot to put in a bid. Each contractor recommended different windows, and most have not been rated by consumer reports, so we are having difficulty comparing them. This is what we have gotten so far:
Soft-Lite Pro - we didn't get a quote because we didn't like the look, specifically the lift rail
Ideal UltraTite $450 + $65 for lead safe installation = $515
Vytex Platinum hp $500 + $65 for lead safe installation = $565
Simonton 6100 $695
Simonton 6500 $800
Ideal Platinum - still waiting for a quote
We plan to be in the house 15-20 yrs and would like good, mid grade windows.

Fern, I will rank these windows by the overall quality and performance data. Number one on your list is the Vytex Potomac-hp?a high performing window and kind of a fantastic price based on the comparisons you have. Soft-Lite Pro?the pro is a good vinyl window, but obviously you aren't going with this one based on the aesthetics.
The Ideal Platinum is a good vinyl window, not top tier like the Potomac-hp, but decent. The Ideal UltraTite II?a middle of the road vinyl window and not a bad one for the price (not nearly as good as the Potomac-hp). Simonton 6500, a good mid range vinyl window. Simonton 6100 -- just okay in my opinion.
Basically, I would strongly urge you to go with the Vytex Potomac-hp. However, I would use one or more of the bids you have to see if he will come down off that price. Tell him you have a bid on the Soft-Lite Pro for instance at $520 per window. This is your upper budget of what you wanted to spend and his bid is out of your budget. If he could match the $520 per window price, you'd be willing to sign a work order that day. Then wait and see if he comes back and offers something lower. Replacement Windows Cost
