NT Energy Master vs. Milgard Styleline

I am in the process of replacing eleven aluminum with storm windows in Texas. The windows are different sizes from the larger 36 x 60 inch to the 24 x 18 inch. I am wondering how good vinyl is for my area. So far I have two quotes one is from NT windows for the Energy Master and the other is from Milgard on the Styleline complete with 3D max. They are adding more to the Milgard quote for installation where the NT installation is already included.

NT are really good windows and come with good features especially the Low-E glass package, internal reinforcements, super spacers and their double strength glass. The price is also the best around the DFW area, the problem is that basic caulk is common in the Texas area. Be careful of lower prices especially in your area, installation needs to be good, even if you pay extra, installation ensures the window performs to its fullest.

Top Aluminum Windows

There are a great number of quality aluminum windows on the market, though the one that stands out is Don Young out of Houston. These are thermally broken aluminum windows which offer great performance. I know NT also makes one, though it's not visually appealing and is more expensive - I haven't had any experience with the Milgard windows.

Other good options include Simonton and Sunrise windows. Simonton actually offer a sash reinforcement, which is a great optional extra. Sunrise offers the best performance numbers of them all, while NT and Don Young offer superior strength.
