Basics Of Bay Window Basics
Bays are fantastic additions to a home, extending outward from a home. They are expensive, they are typically two smaller (but normal sizes) side windows and one picture window. The installation is where the costs can really jump. First off, you need three or four installers to safely remove whatever is in the opening, then the rough opening must be prepped and readied. Finally the bay windows are installed, with special care given to porperly securing them so that the wall can take the considerable weight of the unit itself.
Once in, they are awesome and can really transform a wall from the outside. They can also transform a room from the inside, providing a great breakfast nook or reading corner, the possibilities are endless. Make sure the installers know what they are doing and that they are well versed in the bracing or cable system used by the manufacturer so there are no issues with the wall supporting the weight.
