Home Window Replacement Cost : Styles : Double Paned Window Costs Double Paned Window CostsDouble paned window costs range anywhere from $400 to $1200 fully installed. Asking the price of a double pane window is the equivalent of simply asking the cost of a replacement window - nearly all windows produced today use a double pane IGU. Of course, there are triple pane window options, but these are expensive and, for the most part, unnecessary for nearly all households. The Basics
Double paned windows have two panes of glass in the IGU, which stands for the insulated glazing unit. They differ from single pane windows of old that were quite inefficient by today's standards. The two panes often use low-e glass that has a tinted coat to it that reflects much of the UV rays. The two panes greatly reduce the transfer of both heat and cold from one pane to the other. The result is a much more energy efficient window that keeps the home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Cost Of The Window ItselfBecause most windows today are dual paned, there is a huge price range that's dependent on a host of factors. The most important of which is the frame material, with vinyl being the least expensive, fiberglass being the mid range and wood clad being the most expensive. Other price determinants include the model, size, glass package, hardware, as well as the other add ons and upgrades available. Installation Costs
In general, replacement window installation costs anywhere from $50 to $250 per window. The $50 to $75 range is for an insert or pocket installation. If repair work needs to be done to the jambs or sills, you may be looking at $100 to $150 per window. Full frame installation will run $175 to $250 and involves tearing everything down to the rough frame and then replacing and finishing the window from here. Fully Installed WindowsThe fully installed cost of double pane windows (windows and installation) is $200 to $1200. In the $200 to $500 range, look at Simonton, Wincore, and Reliabilt. In the $500 to $800 range look at Sunrise, Okna, Marvin and Ply Gem. In the $800 to $1200 range, look at Andersen, Marvin, Pella and Loewen.
