Bay Window Installation Costs
Bay window installation costs will typically run from $800 to $2000 total. (This does not include the cost of the bay window itself). Unlike other replacement window styles, bay windows are much larger and more complex than say a simple casement or double hung window. The requirements for bay window installation are much more complex as well. For instance, the installation team will typically requires 3 persons, instead of a 1 to 2 people.

Remove And Prep
The 3 person installation crew must start by removing the old bay window or the combination windows that were installed previously in the space. Next, the crew will properly clean and prep the frames and sills for the new bay window. This can mean replacing old or rotten wood, enlarging or reducing the opening to fit the new window and making sure that the walls are reinforced to support the weight of the new bay window.
It is this step that can significantly add to the bay window installation costs, especially with resizing the opening and/or reinforcing the opening. If your two general laborers are make $40 an hour and the main installer is making $120 an hour, that's a combined total of $200 an hour, which can add up quickly.
Install The New Bay Window
Once the opening has been cleaned up and deemed structural sound, the installation team will install the new bay window. Typically, this means first installing the bay window box. This is the bay window surround (basically all the wood structure and panels -- everything that isn't the windows themselves). These boxes are almost always premade off-site and delivered to the job site. There are a few companies across the United States that specialize in building and shipping these bay window boxes. Most window companies order their boxes from these companies. The only real exception to this is when the bay window is highly customized and must be built on-site by the installation team.
Once the installation team installs the box, they insert the replacement windows into the openings and then properly seal and caulk the windows. Finally, the installation team will do any and all trim work (or finish work) in order for the exterior and interior to look smooth and beautiful. Finish work is something of an art form and hiring a great install team can really make or break a project during this step. Last, but not least, the team will clean up the work space and make sure that everything is looking as good or better as they did at the beginning of the project.
