Browse our Wallside windows reviews written by homeowners who have had experience with the company, their windows, customer service, etc.

Company Basics: Wallside has been making window and doors since 1947 and is headquartered in Taylor Michigan. The company sells direct-to-consumers throughout the state of Michigan. Wallside tends to market a more budget driven vinyl window that is just okay in terms of its overall quality.

Wallside Quality Question

Tom, what's your take on Wallside. I have a bid from them for my 22 openings - but it seems low compared with the other bids I've gotten.

[Site Editor's Answer]

Bill, I wouldn't rank them too high against the top tier manufacturers. They tend to make a budget-friendly vinyl window. There is certainly a place for them in the marketplace, but I wouldn't put them in my home if I was planning to stay their long term. I think there are much better options.

Wallside Windows Reviews

I cannot complain about the Wallside windows or their service. Six years ago we replaced eight double hung windows in two rental properties along with a slider for each unit and a picture window. Each property has been through around three tenants and I only received one complaint where one of the windows had condensation only a few months after installation. I called Wallside and they replaced the window within a few weeks. I bought another ten windows in 2015 and just bought another ten a few months ago. Wallsides are affordable though I always get a number of quotes, but I do think they are good value for money.

Research Is Key

You get what you pay for, this saying couldn't be truer when looking for windows for your home. We moved to our new home just over a year ago and have been researching replacement windows. Up until now I always though a vinyl window as just a window, but after a lot of research I have learned that how long you intend living in the property and how much you want to spend play an important role in your decision.

We had Wallsides in our last home and I never had any problems, but then I only had them for two years. Now I have done my research I won't be choosing Wallside for our new property as I have heard they have problems after seven or more years. So cheaper isn't always better even though I think Wallside are a fairly good window choice.

Wallside Windows Complaint

I cannot fault the installers, sales people in any way and the doors and windows are nice. The installers we had cleaned up behind themselves and were on time, which was a bonus, but they didn't give me a chance to inspect the windows once they completed the job. I will never do that again because it was only after they left I noticed some small problems, such as a safety latch being broken. When it came to after sales service I have nothing good to say, in fact it was ghastly. Don't buy these windows for their warranty, they do not stand behind their product and their after sales service is nonexistent. They told me they could send a service representative to my home between set hours in the morning and if I couldn't be there then they basically couldn't help me. I called back again and was told to leave a message and a manager would get back to me, but she couldn't offer me a different time slot and then she rescheduled my appointment for the Saturday even though I had advised that I work on Saturday. I found them to be so helpful, kind and nice when they didn't have my money, but once the installation was done, they were unhelpful and disinterested.

Poor Customer Service

I recently decided to contact Wallside because we were thinking of replacing our windows and I saw their commercial windows. After doing some homework and going to their website I entered my information so they call me back. A man called me back, he was so rude and basically wanted to know why we wanted these windows in the first place. Not a good start. The agent that arrived at our door to discuss our requirements was very nice and knowledgeable. But besides their rude telephone staff, I found them overpriced, so have decided not to go with Wallside after all.

Installation Problems

I was really disappointed with Wallside. A private contractor came to install the windows and not a Wallside employee. The gap was over 1/2" between the opening and pane, in fact some windows had a ¾ inch gap. Wallside customer service weren't helpful and gave me a run around and now all my windows have condensation and I need to start looking at another solution. Not the greatest installation job or customer service for the price I paid.

Ice & Condensation Problems

I installed three Wallside windows, one was a $4,000 bow window and the other two were double hung. During winter the bow window had ice on the inside, this was on all five of the panes, not just one. Customer services advised this was normal, but after numerous calls they replaced the panes a few months later. Now I am waiting to see if the problem happens again this coming winter. Then the double hungs also have their share of problems including allowing water into my home when I wash them on the outside. Customer services advised again that this is completely normal. I wouldn't recommend Wallside, their customer services do not stand behind their product. I would suggest Simonton, I have six Simonton 5500 windows and never had any problems.
